Before Venom, Hardy’s only appearance in a superhero film was as another villain – Bane – in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises.
Venom is already scheduled for an October 5, 2018 release and will be directed by Ruben Fleischer.
The comic character is one of the most popular in the Spider-Man franchise and made its first big screen appearance in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.
